ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2-133 AND
SECTION 2-134 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES,
REDUCING THE NUMBER OF MEMBERS OF THE
PLANNING BOARD FROM FIFTEEN TO TWELVE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Section 2-133 of the Code of Ordinances is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 2-133. Created.
There is hereby created a planning board for the City
composed of twelve (12) members, each of whom shall be a resi-
dent taxpaying citizen of the City, and who shall serve with-
out pay. "
SECTION 2. Section 2-134 of the Code of Ordinances is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 2-134. Appointment; term; chairman and vice chairman.
The mayor shall appoint the members of the planning board
and each person so appointed must be approved by the Board of
Aldermen before becoming a member thereof. The terms of such
members shall be for a period of three (3) years; however, the
terms shall be so staggered that one-third (1/3) of the Board
shall be appointed each year. In 1975, two (2) members shall
be appointed for three (3) year terms; in 1976 , four (4) members
shall be appointed for three (3) year terms, and one (1) member
shall be appointed for a two (2) year term; in 1977, four (4)
members shall be appointed for three (3) year terms, and one (1)
member shall be appointed for a one (1) year term; thereafter,
all members shall be appointed for three (3) year terms. The
Mayor with the approval of the Board of Aldermen shall nominate
one of the members as chairman and one as vice chairman. The
term of office of each member shall commence upon the approval
of appointment by the Board of Aldermen and shall terminate
whenever the member' s replacement has been appointed and
approved by the Board of Aldermen. "
