Res 2496 4/8/1980RESOLUTION NO. c/a- RESOLUTION SUPPORTING AND ENCOURAGING CONGRESS- IONAL ACTION ON LAKE WICHITA-HOLLIDAY CREEK FLOOD CONTROL PROJECT. WHEREAS, the U. S. Corps of Engineers has completed and favorably considered a Survey Report of the Lake Wichita-Holliday Creek Flood Control Project; and , WHERAS, the U. S. House of Representatives has approved legislation authorizing this project; and, WHEREAS, legislation is now being considered in the U. S. Senate which would authorize water and flood control projects; and, WHEREAS, a citizens initiated petition to require the start and com- pletion of this project greatly modifying the U. S. Corps of Engineers project was defeated at an election on April 5, 1980 by a vote of 3,621 For and 6,123 Against. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS TEXAS: THAT, the Board of Aldermen again re-emphasize their support for the Corps of Engineers Survey Report on the Lake Wichita-Holliday Creek Flood Control Project; and THAT , Texas' two U. S. Senators are urged to support the inclusion of this project for authorization in legislation now pending before the U. S. Senate during this session of Congress; and, THAT, Congressman Jack Hightower and Senators John Tower and Lloyd Bentsen are further implored to support legislation to appropriate initial funds for this project during this session of Congress.
