RESOLUTION NO. phrep(Q
APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT
A GRANT PROPOSAL TO THE TEXAS ENERGY AND NATURAL
RESOURCES ADVISORY COUNCIL FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE
TEXAS COMMUNITY ENERGY MANAGEMENT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls is experiencing substantial annual
increases in the cost of energy for municipal operations; and
WHEREAS, the City is committed to developing a comprehensive energy
management program aimed at limiting and reducing the cost of energy; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to share its experiences with energy conservation
with other communities in the North Texas area and throughout the state; and
WHEREAS, a strong energy conservation program is in the best interests of
the citizens of Wichita Falls,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to submit a grant proposal to the
Texas Energy and Natural Resources Advisory Council for participation in the
Texas Community Energy Management Program. The total amount of funding requested
shall not exceed $30,000.
2. Should this proposal be accepted, it is the intent of this governing
body to continue a comprehensive energy management program with local funds once
the state contract has terminated.
3. The Board of Aldermen directs the City Manager to insure that all
successful projects developed as a part of this program receive the widest
possible distribution to other municipal and county governments in the North
Texas area and throughout the State of Texas.
