Ord 3084 5/4/1976 ORDINANCE NO. 4;
ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1444, AS AMENDED,
WHICH LEVIED A STREET RENTAL CHARGE FOR TRANS-
PORTING PASSENGERS BY TAXICAB, AND AMENDING
SECTION 31-35 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES TO PROVIDE
FOR A TAXICAB OPERATOR'S LICENSE FEE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 1444, as amended by
Ordinance No. 2686, which levied a street rental charge of

passengers by taxicab within the City of Wichita Falls, is
hereby repealed, effective June 1st, 1976.
SECTION 2. Section 31-35 of the Code of Ordinances
is hereby amended so that it shall read as follows:
"Sec. 31-35. Operator' s License Fees, Term.
All operators of taxicabs in the City shall pay an
annual license fee of fifty Dollars ($50. 00) for each and
every car licensed and operated, which fee shall be paid
prior to the issuance of such license. In the event a
car becomes disabled or is withdrawn from service for the
purpose of being repaired, another car may be substituted
for such disabled car only until such damaged car is repaired;
provided, however, that such period of time shall not exceed
thirty days for repairs. It is further provided that all
licenses issued for the operators of taxicabs under the
terms of this article shall expire at 12: 00 o' clock
midnight, December 31st following the issuance of the same. "
SECTION 3. Section 2 of this ordinance shall
become effective January 1st, 1977. The fact that the public
convenience and necessity requires the operation of taxicab
service in the City of Wichita Falls makes Section 1 of this
ordinance an emergency measure, and said Section 1 shall
become effective on June 1st, 1976.
