ORDINANCE GRANTING WAIVER OF SECTION 8-2 AND 27-5 OF
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES ON JULY 3, 1976 FOR SIDEWALK
SALE IN THE CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, the Wichita. Falls Jaycees has requested permission to hold a.
sidewalk sale on July 3, 1976 in the Central Business District;
and,
WHEREAS, Section 8-2 of the Code of Ordinances controls the advertising and
selling of goods on public right-of-way, and Section 27-5 restricts the storage of
equipment and goods on streets and sidewalks.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN.'OF
THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The provisions of said Section 8-2 and Section 27-5 of the Code of Ordinances
is hereby waived for the purpose of allowing a. sidewalk sale on July 3, 1976 in the
Central Business District provided, however, that the Wichita. Falls Jaycees and its
participants shall take every precaution to make sure that the sidewalk is safe for
pedestrians, and shall not allow merchandise to be placed on the sidewalk in such a
manner that it constitutes a. hazard; further, the Wichita Falls Jaycees and the parti-
cipants in the sidewalk sale shall indemnify the City from all liability for damages
arising out of the use of the sidewalk for the display and sale of merchandise.
