ORDINANCE NO. 3106
ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 27-31 (ORDINANCE
NO. 2440) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS TO REQUIRE CURB RAMPS.
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the Board of Aldermen to adopt
certain policies requiring the construction of curb ramps to
accommodate those in wheelchairs in accordance with Section 228
of the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1973.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN
OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 27-31 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Wichita Falls (being also Section 6 of Ordinance 2440) is hereby
amended so that it shall hereafter read as follows:
"Section 27-31. Sidewalk construction - In general.
(a) Sidewalks shall be constructed in accordance with
Section 27-30, unless a different width or location is necessary
to be compatible with existing adjacent sidewalks in the same
block.
(b) Sidewalk construction with accompanying modifica-
tion of curb and gutter at pedestrian crosswalks shall have
curb ramps installed in accordance with specifications approved
or adopted by the Director of Public Works. "
