ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 27-30 (ORDINANCE
NO. 2779) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS TO CHANGE CERTAIN
SIDEWALK REQUIREMENTS IN NEW SUBDIVISIONS.
WHEREAS, the United States Postal Service has required that
curbside mail delivery be provided to all residences on new
mail routes; and,
WHEREAS, it is realized that mailboxes located in four
foot sidewalks adjacent to the curb limit the usable width of the
sidewalk and create possible hazards to those using the sidewalk.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN
OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 27-30 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Wichita Falls (being also Ordinance 2779) is hereby amended so that
it shall hereafter read as follows:
"Section 27-30. Sidewalk Requirements in New Subdivisions.
Sidewalks shall be required in all new subdivisions in
which new street dedications are proposed within the plat of the
subdivision. Street construction plans submitted by the developer
in accordance with the subdivision regulations of the City of
Wichita Falls shall indicate the desired location of the proposed
sidewalks. The Director of Public Works may approve such sidewalk
design if it provides an obstruction - free location, which
is not less than four feet in width. Construction of the sidewalks
by the developer or by individual property owners shall be
in accordance with Standard Specifications of the City of Wichita
Falls. "
