Ord 3127 10/7/1976 ORDINANCE NO. 3127 ORDINANCE AMENDING PARAGRAPHS (1) , (2) , (3) , AND (4) , AND ADDING NEW PARAGRAPHS (5) , (6) AND (7) , OF SUBSECTION (b) OF SECTION 2-98, ESTABLISHING BUS FARES, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. Paragraphs (1) , (2) , (3) and (4) of Subsection (b) of Section 2-98 of the Code of Ordinances are hereby amended to read as follows: " (1) Adult fares shall be forty-five cents ($0. 45) within a zone, with a ten cent ($0. 10) charge for each additional zone. Zones shall include the Kemp route beyond Hampstead Lane, Hayes route beyond Kell and Sheppard Air Force Base route beyond the old Iowa Park highway. (2) Children' s fares (for children ages five through eleven years) shall be twenty cents ($0. 20) . (3) Student fares, when purchased in single lots which are good for twenty rides, shall be twenty cents ($0. 20) per ride. Such fares are limited to students attending school through high school level only. (4) The fares charged elderly and handicapped persons during nonpeak hours shall be twenty cents ($0. 20) within a zone, with a five cent ($0. 05) charge for each additional zone; the hours constituting nonpeak hours shall be established by the Director of Traffic. 'Elderly persons' shall mean all persons over sixty- five years of age. 'Handicapped persons' shall mean all persons with a physical or mental disorder who have been certified by a medical doctor, psychologist or psychiatrist as handicapped. " SECTION 2 . Subsection (b) of Section 2-98 of the Code of Ordinances is hereby amended by adding Paragraphs (5) , (6) , and (7) , which shall read as follows: " (5) There shall be a charge of five cents ($0. 05) each for all transfers. (6) Sheppard express fares shall be seventy cents ($0. 70) . (7) Charter rates for the first three hours of charter service will be fifteen dollars ($15. 00) per hour for a minimum of forty-five dollars ($45. 00) ; such three hour minimum will be charged once a charter bus is dispatched from the transit facility. No charge will be made if cancellation is made before one and one half hours prior to dispatch; if cancellation of a charter takes place within the one and one half hour period prior to dispatch, a penalty charge of fifteen dollars ($15. 00) shall be made. Each hour of charter service subsequent to the third hour will be charged at the rate of ten dollars ($10. 00) per hour on a prorated basis. All charter charges start at the time of departure from the transit facility and end at the time of return to the transit facility, unless the time of return falls within the three hour minimum. " SECTION 3 . There is an urgent public need for the contin- uation of public transportation service, and therefore this ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure, and it shall become effective upon October 15th, 1976.
