ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3018 , AS AMENDED,
TO PROHIBIT POSSESSION AND/OR CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOLIC
BEVERAGES IN TESCO PARK.
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 3018 , as amended, prohibits the
possession and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages in
certain parks, and in all public street rights-of-way abutting
such parks; and,
WHEREAS, it is considered to be in the public interest
to include TESCO Park in this category.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN
OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Section 3 of Ordinance No. 3018, as amended,
is hereby amended to read as follows :
"SECTION 3. The possession of alcoholic beverages, and
the consumption of alcoholic beverages, is also prohibited
in Bridwell Park, Scotland Park, Martin Plaza, Hamilton Park,
Williams Park and TESCO Park, which parks are hereby recognized
and designated as principally used and useful by family groups,
and in all public street rights-of-way abutting such parks. "
SECTION 2. The fact that the possession and use of alco-
holic beverages interferes with the proper use of said park
by the general public creates an emergency, and this ordinance
is declared an emergency measure on the ground of urgent public
need for the preservation of the peace, health and safety of
property of the City, and it shall therefore become effective
upon passage thereof.
