ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 16-16 AND 16-18
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES; ESTABLISHING
FEES TO BE CHARGED BY WICHITA FALLS-WICHITA
COUNTY HEALTH UNIT FOR PERMITS FOR FOOD
ESTABLISHMENTS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Section 16-16 of the Code of Ordinances
is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 16-16. Application.
Application for a permit, required by this division,
shall be filed with the city health officer on a form fur-
nished by the health department and shall contain such infor-
mation as the health officer may require for the purpose of
such application and shall pay therefor to the chief account-
ing officer of the city, in advance with the application,
a permit fee as established by ordinance. "
SECTION 2. Section 16-18 of the Code of Ordinances
is hereby amended to read as follows:
" Section 16-18. Compliance with article required;
posting; term; fee.
Only persons who comply with the requirements of this
article shall be entitled to receive and retain a permit
required by this division. Such permit shall be posted
in a conspicuous place. All permits issued hereunder remain
in force one year from the date of issuance unless revoked
or suspended for non-compliance. The permit fee shall be
paid annually in advance to the chief accounting officer. "
SECTION 3. The following permit fees shall be charged
by the Wichita Falls-Wichita County Health Unit for all
food establishments situated in Wichita County which are
inspected by such health unit:
A. Eating and drinking establishments (such as restaurants,
bars, taverns , lunch counters, variety stores and caterers)
With 1 through 9 employees $ 40. 00
With 10 through 19 employees 50. 00
• With 20 or more employees 60. 00
B. Food establishments other than eating and drinking
establishments (such as grocery stores, soft drink bottling
plants, grocery and food warehouses)
With total size not exceeding 1000 square feet $ 30. 00
With total size of 1001 through 2500 square feet 35. 00
With total size of 2501 through 5000 square feet 40. 00
With total size of 5001 through 10,000 sq. feet 45. 00
With total size exceeding 10,000 square feet 50. 00
C. For all establishments under B. above in which food
products are prepared for consumption, the fee shall be
increased by $10. 00.
SECTION 4. Whereas the health and safety of the public
requires the inspection of food establishments, and the col-
lection of fees provided for in this ordinance supports such
inspections, this ordinance is an emergency measure, and it
shall become effective upon its passage.
