Res 153-82 9/14/1982RESOLUTION NO. /,3- p2 i RESOLUTION CALLING A PUBLIC HEARING AS REQUIRED BY SECTION 26. 06 OF THE TEXAS TAX CODE. WHEREAS, the Texas Tax Code requires a public hearing in the event that the proposed tax rate for the current year exceeds by more than three percent the calculated effective tax rate; and, WHEREAS, the effective tax rate, in general, is that tax rate which would have produced the total tax revenue assessed the previous year if it were applied to the total taxable value assessed in the current year on the properties which were taxed in the pre- ceding year; and, WHEREAS, such effective tax rate is calculated to be 64 .2 cents per $100 valuation, and an increase of three percent in such effective tax rate would give a tax rate of 66. 12 cents per $100 valuation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS , TEXAS , THAT: It is proposed that the Board of Aldermen will consider setting a tax rate higher than 66. 12 cents per $100 valuation, which exceeds the calculated effective tax rate by more than three percent; public notice shall be given of this proposal , and a public hearing on such proposed increase shall be held on Thursday, September 23, 1982 at 8 : 30 o' clock a.m. in the Council Room of Memorial Auditorium Building, at which hearing proponents and opponents of the tax increase will be afforded adequate opportunity to present their views. The City Clerk shall publish in a newspaper, not less than seven days before such public hearing, a notice of the public hearing in the form required by Section 26. 06 of the Texas Tax Code.
