ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 16-31 AND SECTION
16-32 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, DELETING
THE REQUIREMENT FOR CHEST X-RAY FOR FOOD
HANDLERS, AND ESTABLISHING A FOOD HANDLERS'
TRAINING COURSE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA PALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Section 16-31 of the Code of Ordinances is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 16-31. Same -- application.
Any person who is required to have a health certificate
under this article shall make application to the City Health
Department. Such applicant shall be required to attend a course
in sanitation and the handling of food, at a school which is
approved for this purpose by the Health Department. "
SECTION 2. Section 16-32 of the Code of Ordinances is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 16-32. Issuance of health certificate; term.
When an applicant makes his application to the City Health
Department, his picture will betaken, he will pay all fees, and
a temporary card will be issued to him. Upon completion of the
school, the Health Department may issue to him a health certifi-
cate, which certificate shall expire twelve months from date of
issuance. "
SECTION 3. Since it has been determined that the require-
ment of a chest x-ray is of little value, and the Texas Depart-
ment of health concurs with this opinion and has recommended that
such x-rays should not be done, this ordinance is declared to be
an emergency measure, and it shall become effective upon its pas-
sage.
