Ord 3405 12/19/1978 ORDINANCE NO. crrn/-/ AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, BY ANNEXING CERTAIN LANDS ADJACENT TO THE TERRITORIAL LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, WHICH LANDS ARE DESCRIBED IN THIS ORDINANCE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the following tracts of land located in Wichita County, Texas, be and the same are hereby ordered to be annexed and to be included within the corporate limits of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, and the corporate limits be extended so as to include said tracts of land in Wichita County, Texas, the same being more particularly described as follows: TRACT I BEING a tract of land located in the M. Carbajal Survey, Abstract No. 44, Wichita County, Texas, more fully described as follows: BEGINNING at a point, being the northwest corner of Block One, Unit One, Arrowhead Industrial District, said point also being the point of intersection of the east right-of-way line of Burkburnett Road and the centerline of the Northside Irrigation Canal; THENCE south 23° 36' east 2,123.8 feet along the east right-of-way line of Burkburnett Road to a point for a corner; THENCE south 19° 36' east 211.0 feet to a point for a corner; THENCE south 120 1' east 324 feet, more or less to a point for a corner, said point also being a point in the North Boundary Line of the S.L.B. In conformity with Section 6 of Article 970a of the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, before these annexation proceedings were instituted, the Board of Aldermen called a public hearing on November 7, 1978 to provide an opportunity for all interested persons to be heard; notice of such hearing was published once in the Wichita Falls Record News not more than twenty (20) days nor less than ten (10) days prior to the public hearing. Such public hearing was held on November 21, 1978 which was not more than twenty (20) days nor less than ten (10) days prior to the institution of the annexation proceedings. SECTION 3. In conformity with Section 3-A of the amended Charter of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, this ordinance is on the 5th day of December ,. 1978 introduced and the City Clerk is directed to publish said ordinance one (1) time in a newspaper of general circulation published in the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, and seven (7) days thereafter this ordinance may be finally acted upon. SECTION 4. The fact that this is an urbanizing area, and City safety, health and police controls and measures will be needed, creates an emergency, and it is hereby declared that this ordinance is an emergency measure on the grounds of public need for the preservation of the peace, health, and safety ' of property of the city, and this ordinance shall go into effect immediately upon its passage.
