ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR PREFABRICATED OR
MODULAR HOMES IN THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS
WHEREAS, because of the terrible destruction of housing in
the City of Wichita Falls caused by the tornado on April 10, 1979,
it is deemed advisable for a temporary period to allow pre-
fabricated or modular homes in the city which do not meet all of
the standards required by the present ordinances.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF
THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any other ordinances to the con-
trary, prefabricated or modular homes to be used by persons or
businesses displaced by the tornado, may be located in the city
if they meet or exceed the following standard codes and require-
ments:
A. Standard Building Code (1976 edition) (formerly known
as the Southern Standard Building Code) .
B. Southern Standard Plumbing Code.
C. Southern Standard Mechanical Code.
D. National Electric Code.
SECTION 2. Acceptability of prefabricated or modular homes
for location in the City will require the submission of an affi-
davit signed by the Chief Executive Officer of the manufacturing
organization, indicating that all the provisions of previously
indicated codes have been met. A complete set of plans and speci-
fications for the particular unit for which approval is requested
shall be submitted. Additionally, the City of Wichita Falls
reserves the right to periodically send inspectors to the manu-
facturing plant to inspect the compliance of the code provisions .
Such inspection trips shall be at the expense of the manufacturing
company involved.

SECTION 3. This ordinance shall become void one year after
the date of its adoption.
SECTION 4 . Because of the destruction of buildings by the
tornado, this ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure,
and shall become effective upon its adoption.
