ORDINANCE AMENDING ELECTRICAL CODE OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS ALLOWING ACCEPTANCE OF ELEC-
TRICAL LICENSES FROM CERTAIN OTHER TEXAS CITIES
WITHOUT EXAMINATION FOR A TEMPORARY PERIOD.
WHERAS, the April 10, 1979 tornado has caused much property damage which
will require great amounts of electrical contracting work to accomplish reconstruc-
tion in the shortest time possible; and
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls requires under Chapter 14 of the Code
of Ordinances the local examination and licensing of various categories of electricians;
and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that several other Texas Cities have at least
equal examination and licensing procedures for electricians.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF
THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS: THAT
SECTION 1. Not withstanding other sections of Chapter 14 (Electrical Code)
of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Wichita Falls, the City of Wichita Falls will
accept electrician licenses from the following other Texas Cities without an examin-
ation being required: Dallas and Fort Worth reciprocal electrician licenses which are
accepted in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro-plex; Lubbock; Amarillo; Waco; Abilene; San
Antonio; Midland; and Odessa. Upon presenting to the Chief Electrical Inspector's
office electrical licenses from the above named cities, the examination for this class
of electrician's license shall be waived as well as the examination application fee.
SECTION 2. Electrical Contractors licensed under this ordinance will be re-
quired to register with the Chief Electrical Inspector and have continuously in their
employment at least one Master Electrician as per Sections 14-20 (A), (B) and (C) of
the Code of Ordinances.
SECTION 3. A City of Wichita Falls electrician's license will be granted to
anyone meeting the conditions of this ordinance upon payment of the first year's license
fee for the class of electrician license and renewal license fees and the filing of a surety
bond as may be required under Chapter 14 of the Code of Ordinances.

SECTION 4. All such licenses granted shall expire on December 31st of each
year.
SECTION 5. The Board of Electrical Examiners shall meet every week, if
necessary, in order to administer examinations for the several classes of electrical
licenses for those who do not qualify under this ordinance for the granting of electrical
licenses, and to approve licenses as authorized under this ordinance.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall expire on December 31, 1980 unless extended
by the Board of Aldermen.
SECTION 7. All other Sections of Chapter 14 of the Code of Ordinances not in
conflict herewith shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 8. Because of the destruction of buildings by the tornado, this Ordin-
ance is declared to be an emergency measure, and shall become effective upon its
adoption.
