ORDINANCE EXTENDING STATE OF DISASTER EMERGENCY
FOR SEVEN DAYS, AND REGULATING BEING OR REMAIN-
ING IN CERTAIN AREAS AT CERTAIN TIMES.
WHEREAS, the state of the emergency declared by Ordinance
No. 3450 automatically terminates on May 16, 1979, by virtue of
Article 5890 (e) , Revised Civil Statutes of Texas; and,
WHEREAS, the aftermath of the tornado still creates an
emergency.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN
OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Prior approval having been given by the
Governor, the state of disaster emergency in the City of
Wichita Falls is hereby extended for a period of seven days,
ending May 23, 1979, such extension being reasonably necessary
to protect the health, life and property of the City and its
inhabitants.
SECTION 2. From 12: 00 O'clock P.M. until 6: 00 o'clock
A.M. , no unauthorized persons will be in or remain in those
residential areas of the City which were damaged by the
tornado, as determined by the Chief of Police. Unauthorized
P ersons are all persons except people who own property or who
resided in the area on April 10, 1979, their relatives and
emergency crews.
SECTION 3 . Any violations of this ordinance shall subject
the offender to the penalties provided in Article 5890 (e) ,
Revised Civil Statutes of Texas.
SECTION 4. This ordinance is declared to be an emergency
ordinance, and shall become effective upon its passage.
