AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 29-91 OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS
ESTABLISHING PRIMA FACIE MAXIMUM SPEED LIMITS ON
CERTAIN STREETS WITHIN THE CORPORATE LI\'irfS OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.'
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
WHEREAS, the State Department of Highways and Public Tra.nsportat.ion re-
quests that a construction project speed zone bie established on certain streets.
SECTION 1. Sec. 29-91. of the Code of Ordinances is hereby amended by •
making the following changes in the subsections of said Section 29-91 as hereinafter
set out, towit:
"(F) Central Freeway East (U.S. 82-287):
(1) 40 MPH From 23rd Street to a. point
3/10 mile east of 23rd Street.
(2) 45 MPH From a O � point 3/10 mile east
of 23rd Street to a point 7/10 •
mile east of 23rd Street.
(3) 55 MPH
From a point 7/10 miles east
of 23rd Street to the east city
limvits.
(AJ) South Freeway (U.S. 281-SH 79)
(1) 55 MPH
From south city limits to a point:
4/10 mile south of its junction
with Central Freeway East(U. S.
287 - 82).
(2) 45 MPH From a. point 4/10 mile south of
its junction with Central Freeway
• East (U.S. 287-82) to its junction
with Central Freeway East (U.S.
287 - 82). "
SECTION 2. The fact that the prima facie speed limits set out in this ord- • : ,
inance are necessary to the safe and orderly movement of traffic upon the streets of the •
City of Wichita Falls, this ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure on the •
ground that there is an urgent public need for the orderly flow of traffic upon the streets,
and a public need for the preservation of the peace, health and safety of the lives and
property of the citizens of the City. This ordinance shall, therefore, take effect im-
mediately upon its passage.
