RESOLUTION NO. 68-2014
Resolution Confirming the Appointment of a Fire Chief for the City Of
Wichita Falls
WHEREAS, relevant parts of Texas Local Gov’t Code § 143.013 provide the
following for Chapter 143 positions:
(a) Unless elected, each department head is: . . . (1) appointed by the
municipality's chief executive and confirmed by the m unicipality's governing body;
(b) A person appointed as head of a fire department must be eligible for
certification by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection at the intermediate level
or its equivalent as determined by that commission and must have se rved as a
fully paid fire fighter for at least five years. A person appointed as head of a police
department must be eligible for certification by the Texas Commission on Law
Enforcement at the intermediate level or its equivalent as determined by that
commission and must have served as a bona fide law enforcement officer for at
least five years.
WHEREAS, in accordance with Texas Local Gov’t Code § 143.013(a), City
Manager Darron Leiker has appointed Jon Reese as the Fire Chief for the City of
W ichita Falls and this appointment must be confirmed by the City Council ; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the appointee meets the required
qualifications for appointment as Fire Chief.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The appointment of Jon Reese as Fire Chief for the City of Wichita Falls, Texas,
is hereby confirmed.
