RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
AGENCY TO MAKE CORRECTIONS TO THE FLOODWAY/FLOODPLAIN
BOUNDARIES OF THE WICHITA RIVER.
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls has entered the National
Flood Insurance Program; and,
WHEREAS, the City' s participation in the National Flood Insurance
Program requires the City to limit construction in designated flood-
prone areas; and,
WHEREAS, the designated flood-prone areas are shown on maps
prepared by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and its predeces-
sor agencies; and,
WHEREAS, errors have been detected in the maps covering the
Wichita River adjacent to Lucy Park and the Central Expressway area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS , TEXAS , THAT:
SECTION 1 . The Federal Emergency Management Agency remove the
floodway designation from D. C. Cogburn Tract as requested in Exhibit
1.
SECTION 2 . The Federal Emergency Management Agency restudy the
floodplain boundaries of the Wichita River and make any necessary
corrections as a result of changed physical conditions and measurement
error.
