RESOLUTION CALLING A PUBLIC HEARING AS REQUIRED
BY SECTION 26 .06 OF THE TEXAS TAX CODE .
WHEREAS, the Texas Tax Code requires a public hearing in the
event that the proposed tax rate exceeds by more than three percent
the calculated effective tax rate; and,
WHEREAS, such effective tax rate is calculated to be $ . 69178
per $100 valuation; and,
WHEREAS , it has been proposed that the tax rate be increased by
7 .90 percent over the effective tax rate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The City Council will consider the proposed tax increase of
7 .90 percent over the effective tax rate; public notice will be
given of this proposal to increase total tax revenues from properties
on the tax rolls in 1982 by 7 .90 percent, and a public hearing on
such proposal will be held on September 20 , 1983 at 8 :30
o 'clock a .m. in the Council Room of Memorial Auditorium building,
at which hearing proponents and opponents of the tax increase will
be afforded adequate opportunity to present their views .
The City Clerk shall publish in a newspaper, not less than
seven days before such public hearing, a notice of the public hearing
in the form required by Section 26 .06 of the Texas Tax Code, and
approved by the City Council on August 2 , 1983 .
