A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE CITY MANAGER'S SUBMISSION
OF AN APPLICATION FOR 50 ADDITIONAL UNITS OF SECTION 8 -
HOUSING ASSISTANCE PAYMENTS PROGRAM FOR EXISTING HOUSING
UNDER TITLE II OF THE HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
ACT OF 1974 (PUBLIC LAW 93-383), AMENDED
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls currently has an approved Section 8
Housing Assistance Payments Program in operation; and
WHEREAS, all of the 267 authorized units are under lease; and
WHEREAS, 160 qualified families are on the waiting list; and
WHEREAS, the 1983 Housing Assistance Plan adopted by the City Council
indicates 50 additional units as a current year goal; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Housing and Urban Development has issued an
invitation for Section 8 Existing Housing Program in metropolitan areas; and
WHEREAS, submission requirements precluded formal presentation to the
Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The City Manager's submission of an application for an additional 50
units of Section 8 - Housing Assistance Payments Program for Existing Housing
and authorization for him to execute an Annual Contributions Contract with the
Department of Housing and Urban Development for providing housing assistance
to lower income households is hereby confirmed and approved. ,,¢¢
