ORDINANCE MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE SPECIAL
REVENUE FUND FOR GRANT REVENUE FROM THE
TRANSPORTATION SECURITY ADMINISTRATION OF THE UNITED
STATES DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO FULFILL
SECURITY DIRECTIVE SD 1542-02-07, PROVIDNG FOR LAW
ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS AT THE WICHITA FALLS MUNICIPAL
AIRPORT; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT
WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the TSA has issued Security Directive SD 1542-02-07 requiring a
law enforcement presence at each commercial airport; and
WHEREAS, following the withdrawal of National Guard personnel at Municipal
Airport, the City of Wichita Falls Police Department has provided a law enforcement
presence at the airport; and
WHEREAS, through a Memorandum of Agreement with the City of Wichita Falls,
the TSA has agreed to reimburse the City for proving law enforcement at the airport at
a rate of$552.00 per day up to a maximum of$316,848.00; and
WHEREAS, the TSA plans to terminate this agreement when it has its own
federal law enforcement personnel at the airport.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated in the Special Revenue Fund
$316,848.00 for providing law enforcement at the Municipal Airport.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
