Ord 054-2002 7/16/2002 ORDINANCE NO.514-a-000,
ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MAKE
APPLICATION FOR THE FY 2002 LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT
BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE
MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO
THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls is eligible for a Department of Justice,
Bureau of Justice Assistance Local Law Enforcement Block Grant (LLEBG) total award
in the amount of$83,293.00, of which $74,964.00 is the federal award and $8,329.00 is
a required 10% match; and
WHEREAS, the City intends to use the Police Department's forfeiture funds for
the required local match; and
WHEREAS, at a later date, an advisory committee made up of members of the
community, as required by LLEBG policies, will determine how the grant proceeds will
be spent.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Mananger is hereby authorized to make application for
the FY 2002 Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Asisstance Local Law
Enforcement Block Grant funds in the amount of$83, 293.00.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
