ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, ENACTING SECTION 82-103 OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES, ESTABLISHING A CATCH AND RELEASE POLICY IN
THE TWO PONDS IN SOUTH WEEKS PARK REQUIRING THAT FISH
CAUGHT BE RETURNED SAFELY TO THE PONDS; FINDING AND
DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE
WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the City has maintained for many years the pond in south Weeks
Park known as the "Kid Fishing Hole" and recently had another pond dug by the
Northwest Field & Stream Association adjacent to the building leased to them, and;
WHEREAS, the Association has requested a catch and release policy be
adopted at these ponds in order to preserve the benefits of catching fish that they
purchase and put into the ponds for the largest number of citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Section 82-103 of the Code of Ordinances is hereby enacted to
read as follows:
"Sec. 82-103. Fishing - South Weeks Park Ponds.
Fishing in Weeks Park ponds located south of Southwest Parkway is permitted.
A catch and release police is established, and all fish caught shall be safely released
back into the pond."
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
