RESOLUTION TO APPROVED THE CHARGES FOR
SURFACE DAMAGE TO CITY OWNED LAND BY OIL
DRILLING OPERATIONS
WHEREAS, the City owns the mineral rights on selected
city-owned properties;
WHEREAS, oil drilling operations cause damages to the
land that would not have occurred in the absence of such operations;
and
WHEREAS, it is customary and proper for the owner of the
land to be compensated for these surface damages.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
There shall be a minimum surface damage charge of $500.00
for each oil well drilled on city-owned land. The Director of Public
Works shall assess a higher charge when the cost for the city to repair
surface damages will exceed the minimum of $500.00.
