RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING GRANT APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS CRIMINAL
JUSTICE COUNCIL FOR CRIME-EYE CAMERA OPERATIONS, FOR FIRST YEAR
OF FUNDING.
Whereas, funds are available thru the Texas Criminal Justice Council
to fund certain crime prevention programs on a matching basis for the the first
year program including the Crime-Eye camera operation. This program involves
the employment of one (1) part-time civilian to perform the duties required
for the maintenance of the cameras, which would free commissioned police
officers to do other related activities within the department; and
Wheras, the Crime-Eye cameras could be place in the high crime areas
of the city to serve as a deterrent to crime and for the purpose of identi-
fying and arresting the criminals that committed such acts; and
Whereas, the estimated cost of the project for the first year funding
would be $23,288.00, of which $7,515.00 would be provided by the city and
15,773.00 by the state grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The City Manager is hereby authorized to make an application to the
Texas Criminal Justice Council for a grant in the amount of $15,773.00,
to be matched with $7,515.00 to be provided by the city for this project,
and to execute the grant agreement for the City of Wichita Falls, Texas.
