RESOLUTION AGREEING TO PARTICIPATE IN THE
PURCHASE OF LAND AND APPROVING THE CITY MANGER
TO SIGN AN AGREEMENT TO CONTRIBUTE FUNDS FOR
THE PURCHASE
WHEREAS, a parcel of property exists at the intersection of U.S. 287
Holliday Street) and 8th Street, which is presently owned by Mr. J. W. Akin; and,
WHEREAS, this parcel is designated as Lot 4-A, a rep1at of a portion
of Block 246 of the Original Twonsite, Wichita Falls, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, the above referenced parcel is located in the Northeast
quadrant of the intersection of U.S. 287 and 8th Street and is needed for a
proposed improvement to the U.S. 287 Project as set forth in the Wichita Falls
Urban Transportation Plan, 1970-1990; and,
WHEREAS, the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation
has approached the City with a request to cost share at 10% of the cost of the
parcel to protective buy the parcel from the owner in anticipation of the
improvement of U.S. 287; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to enter into an agreement for the
purchase of the above parcel under an agreement entitled, " Agreement to
contribute funds".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY BOARD OF ALDERMAN OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The City Council agrees to participate in the purchase of the above
parcel of land and agrees to enter into an agreement with the State Department
of Highways and Public Transportation for the contribution of 10% of the funds
for the purchase of the above parcel , the estimate of the local participation
being $5,400.00.
