RESOLUTION TO APPROVE CONTRACT WITH THE FIRM OF BIGGS
MATHEWS, INC. , CONSULTING ENGINEERS, FOR THE SMOKE
TESTING OF SELECTED SANITARY SEWER LINES WITHIN THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls Sewer Collection System is
being invaded by storm waters, thereby increasing pumping costs and treat-
ment requirements;
WHEREAS, the City has a program undertaken to reduce the levels
of inflow and infiltration into the sewer collection system;
WHEREAS, the points of entry of storm water must be detected through
smoke testing of the sewer lines; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has examined a proposed contract with the
firm of Biggs & Mathews, Inc. to conduct smoke test of approximately 800,000
linear feet of sewer line to detect the points of entry of storm water so
that repairs can be made.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The proposed contract with the firm of Biggs & Mathews for the
smoke testing of selected sewer lines within the City of Wichita Falls is
hereby approved in the amount not to exceed $137,000, and the City Manager
is authorized to execute the said contract.
