RESOLUTION NO. 0-16/
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
A LEASE AGREEMENT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF AIR FORCE
FOR A 50-YEAR LEASE EXTENSION TO THE EXISTING AIR-
PORT LEASE.
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls and the Secretary of the
Air Force executed Contract DA-41-443-eng-5551 on August 12,
1959 , and July 20, 1959 , respectively, whereby the Department of
the Air Force leased to the City a tract of land consisting of
50 .73 acres, more or less, together with all existing government
owned improvements located on said land, for use as an airport,
and also permitted joint utilization of the existing and proposed
military runways at Sheppard Air Force Base by civil air carriers
and other civil aircraft equipped with functioning two-way radio
capable of communication with Sheppard Air Force Base Control
Tower; such contract was for a term of 50 years, beginning 15 May
1959 and 14 May 2009 ; and,
WHEREAS, thereafter the Secretary of the Air Force and the
City of Wichita Falls executed Supplemental Agreement No. 1 to such
contract DA-41-443-eng-5551, which extended the area covered by
the lease to include an additional area of 4 . 29 acres, referred to
as Taxiway "C" (paved portion only) ; the effective date of such
Supplemental Agreement No. 1 was 13 April 1982; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wichita Falls deems
it to be in the best interest of the City to extend the lease past
the year 2009 .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS , TEXAS, THAT:
The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute with the
Department of the Air Force a 50-year extension of said Contract
DA-41-443-eng-5551, as supplemented by Supplemental Agreement No. 1,
for the continued use of Municipal Airport by the City of Wichita Falls .
