RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING GRANT APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS
CRIMINAL JUSTICE COUNCIL FOR MATCHING FUNDS TO PROVIDE
FOR A COMPUTER ASSISTED TRAINING PROJECT FOR THE WICHITA
FALLS POLICE ACADEMY.
WHERAS, the Wichita Falls Police Academy provides basic law enforce-
ment training for its own officers as well as officers from other areas;
and, provides in-service training for officers of the Wichita Falls
Police Department and other officers throughout the region; and,
WHEREAS, funds are available thru the Texas Criminal- Justice Council
to fund certain law enforcement training projects on a fifty-fifty
matching ratio and a Computer Assisted Training Project would enable
the training staff to implement a programmed training project wherein
officers, through interaction with the computer, would be able to part-
cipate in learning programs, progressing at their own rate and during
available time. This project would increase the number of manhours
of basic and in-service training provided and would incorporate various
and numerous areas of law enforcement and criminal justice practices; and,
WHEREAS, the estimated cost for the project for one year would be
16 ,308 . 00 , of which $8 , 154 will be provided by the Criminal Justice
Division and $8 , 154 would be provided by the city.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The City Manager is hereby authorized to make an application to the
Texas Criminal Justice Council for a grant in the amount of $8 , 154 .00
for this project, and to execute the grant agreement for the City of
Wichita Falls.
