RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING GRANT APPLICATION TO THE
TEXAS CRIMINAL JUSTICE COUNCIL FOR MATCHING FUNDS
TO PROVIDE FOR A REGIONAL MAJOR CRIMINAL APPREHENSION
PROJECT FOR THE WICHITA FALLS POLICE DEPARTMENT .
WHEREAS , the areas and surfaces that in the past yielded the
the best results in locating and lifting latent fingerprints have
been substituted with more porous materials . The detection and
collection of evidence has become increasingly difficult ; and ,
WHEREAS , the collection and detection of evidence provides a
necessary and important and vital ingredient in the apprehension
of criminals and the solving of crimes ; and,
WHEREAS , the use of a laser print finder would greatly enhance
the capability of the Crime Scene Investigation section of the
Wichita Falls Police Department . The unit would be manned and
available for use around the clock ; and ,
WHEREAS , the estimated cost of the project would be $37 ,400 . 00
and money may be available on a 50-50 matching ratio from the
Criminal Justice Council , with the City of Wichita Falls providing
18, 700 and the State of Texas providing $18 , 700 .
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS , TEXAS , THAT :
The City Manager is hereby authorized to make an application to
the Texas Criminal Justice Council for a grant in the amount of
18 , 700 for this project , and to execute the grant agreement for the
City of Wichita Falls .
