RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CITY' S PARTICIPATION IN
THE RATE INCREASE REQUEST CASE FILED WITH THE
TEXAS PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION BY SOUTHWESTERN
BELL TELEPHONE ON MARCH 22 , 1985.
WHEREAS, Southwestern Bell Telephone Company filed a 323 . 9
million dollar rate increase request with the Texas Public
Utilities Commission on March 22 , 1985 ; and,
WHEREAS, in the past, cities have joined together to study
the company' s request and to present evidence regarding the
proper amount of increase, if any, which should be authorized;
and,
WHEREAS, funds remain on hand from prior cases so that it
will not be necessary for the cities to provide further funding
of this case , and it is deemed to be in the interest of the City
of Wichita Falls and its citizens for the City to participate in
this matter.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS , THAT:
The City of Wichita Falls wishes to participate as a named
party with other cities in a joint study of the rate increase
request filed by Southwestern Bell in March, 1985, and such other
matters affecting telephone rates in our City as the Steering
Committee selected at a meeting of the cities on March 8 , 1985,
may specifically elect to pursue and presentation of evidence
thereon; the witnesses and attorneys selected by the Steering
Committee of such cities are authorized to act on behalf of Wichita
Falls to obtain all information necessary and pertinent , to conduct
investigations, to present evidence , make filings in our name and
advise and represent our City with respect to such case , or cases,
including any appeals from Commission decisions thereon, all
subject to the authorization and direction of the cities' Steering
Committee. This authorization may be terminated at any time by
written notice and does not obligate the City of Wichita Falls for
payment of any amount.
