A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO FILE AN
APPLICATION FOR 120 ADDITIONAL UNITS OF SECTION 8 -
HOUSING ASSISTANCE PAYMENTS PROGRAM FOR EXISTING HOUSING
UNDER TITLE II OF THE HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
ACT OF 1974 (PUBLIC LAW 93-383) , AMENDED
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls currently has an approved Section 8
Housing Assistance Payments Program in operation; and
WHEREAS, all of the 297 authorized units are under lease; and
WHEREAS, 150 qualified families are on the waiting list; and
WHEREAS, the 1983 Housing Assistance Plan adopted by the City Council
indicates 150 additional units as a three year goal; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Housing and Urban Development has issued an
invitation for Section 8 Existing Housing Program in metropolitan areas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The City Manager is hereby authorized to file an application for an
additional 120 units of Section 8 - Housing Assistance Payments Program for Existing
Housing and to execute an Annual Contributions Contract with the Department of
Housing and Urban Development for providing housing assistance to lower income
households.
