ORDINANCE RESTRICTING SWIMMING TO CERTAIN AREAS
OF LAKE ARROWHEAD AND ALLOWING THE POSTING OF
SIGNS TO DESIGNATE RESTRICTED AREAS.
WHEREAS, swimming in certain areas of Lake Arrowhead has
proven to be extremely dangerous; and,
WHEREAS, the state legislature has delegated to the governing
body of an incorporated city the authority to restrict swimming in
a lake owned by said city; and,
WHEREAS, the exercise of this authority is advisable to preserve
and protect the safety and well-being of the users of Lake Arrowhead.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF
THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Section 22-31 (b) of the Code of Ordinances of the
City of Wichita Falls is hereby repealed.
SECTION 2. The Code of Ordinances of the City of Wichita Falls
is hereby amended by adding new sections 22-31 (b) , (c) , and (d) :
" (b) It shall be unlawful for any person to swim or bathe in
any ponds, streams, or lakes situated in any city parks within the
City of Wichita Falls, except Lake Wichita and the areas of Lake
Arrowhead which are not designated as a no swimming area by Section
(c) below. "
" (c) The area from the spillway at Lake Arrowhead to a point
2 , 000 feet downstream shall be designated a no swimming area. The
Department of Parks and Recreation may post appropriate signs to
designate said areas as a no swimming area. "
" (d) Any person who is convicted of violating this section
shall be punished by a fine not exceeding Two Hundred Dollars
($200 . 00) . "
