ORDINANCE GRANTING WAIVER OF ORDINANCE NO. 2384
SECTIONS 1 AND 2, TO ALLOW CONSTRUCTION OF A
MEDIAN CUT ON HOMEWARD WAY FOR AN ACCESS
EASEMENT IN BLOCKS 1 AND 2, EDGECLIFF ESTATES.
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2834, Sections 1 and 2, (Codified as Sections 27-33 and
27-34 of the Code of Ordinances) allows a median cut only at the intersection of two
dedicated streets and in conjunction with a left turn lane to serve as a common
entrance to large volume traffic generators, so located that a minimum of three
hundred feet of unbroken median is left between the n ear end of the existing median
and the near end of the proposed cut; and,
WHEREAS, GAMMAR CORP. has requested that these provisions be waived in
order that a. median cut may be constructed to facilitate access to/egress from an
access easement serving as the only access to lots 1-B thru 5-B Block 1, and lots
1-B thru 4-B Block 2 of Edgecliff Estates in accordance with the requirements of the
Comprehensive Subdivision Ordinance; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the circumstances involved in this situation
are exceptional, that approval of the proposed median cut will reduce the potential
for accidents and promote safe and orderly flow of traffic at this location, and that
a waiver of Ordinance No. 2834 sections (1) and (2) should be granted.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, 'EXAS, THAT:
The requirements of Ordinance No. 2834, Sections 1 and 2 (Codified as Sections
27-33 and 27-34 of the Code of Ordinances) are hereby waived to allow GAMMAR
CORP. to construct a median cut on Homeward Way as shown in t he attached drawing.
