Res 138-86 9/16/1986RESOLUTION NO. /51-2ff RESOLUTION GRANTING EXCEPTION UNDER RESOLUTION NO. 125-85, WHICH REQUIRES 70% OF WORKER HOURS ON CERTAIN PROJECTS BE PERFORMED BY RESIDENTS OF AN AREA WITHIN 250 STATUTE MILES OF WICHITA FALLS, FOR A PROJECT TO CONSTRUCT ELEVATED WATER STORAGE TANKS. WHEREAS, Resolution No. 125-85 requires that 70% of the worker hours on certain heavy construction projects be performed by bona fide residents of an area within 250 statute miles of Wichita Falls, but said resolution provides that an exception to the policy may be granted by the City Council in certain cases; and, WHEREAS, the City is ready to advertise for the construction of two one-million gallon elevated water storage tanks, and it is found that this is highly specialized work, and it is doubtful that there are adequate companies within the 250 mile radius to provide competitive bids. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: An exception to the policy established by Resolution No. 125-85 is hereby granted for the project to construct two one- million gallon elevated water storage tanks.
