A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS,TEXAS,
AGREEING TO COOPERATE WITH THE CITY OF LAWTON,
OKLAHOMA IN FURTHERING THE GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
OF THE GENERAL AREA INFLUENCED BY THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS AND THE CITY OF LAWTON, OKLAHOMA
WHEREAS, the governing bodies of the cities of Lawton,
Oklahoma, and Wichita Falls, Texas, recognize that the two
cities have a common interest in mutual development due to
their close proximity; and,
WHEREAS, the area influenced by the two cities contains
abundant resources to encourage growth and development; and,
WHEREAS, both communities are aggressively pursuing ways
and means to encourage continued growth and development; and,
WHEREAS, both cities have, within their respective
communities, viable mechanisms to seek out and induce new
commerce and industry to locate in the general area; and,
WHEREAS, it would be to the mutual benefit to both cities
to exercise a spirit of cooperation in development within the
general area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The two cities will cooperatively define the
general area considered to be influenced by the two cities.
SECTION 2. The.two cities will effect a maximum degree of
cooperation in encouraging growth and development within the
general area.
SECTION 3. The two cities will actively seek the
cooperation of the other local jurisdiction and public
agencies that are contained within the general area.
SECTION 4. The governing bodies of the two cities will
direct their respective staffs to work together in seeking out
ways to improve municipal services for the general area and,
on a periodic basis, will hold joint meetings to discuss the
results of this cooperative effort.
SECTION 5. The two cities will actively encourage
agencies-and organizations within their respective communities
to work together with their counterparts in the other
community in attracting new economic opportunities to the
general area.
SECTION 6. The two cities will cooperatively develop data
and statistics for the general area upon which those so
interested will have a comprehensive basis for recognizing the
significant potential existing for commercial and industrial
development.
