RESOLUTION TO APPROVE ENGINEERING CONTRACT
WITH SOUTHWESTERN LABORATORIES FOR LAKE
KICKAPOO DAM STABILIZATION STUDY
WHEREAS, the back side of the dam at Lake Kickapoo falls away in
selected places during long rain periods;
WHEREAS, the sloughing of the dam must be repaired using City personnel
and equipment each time it occurs;
WHEREAS, there are potential long term ramifications in addition to
the short term problems created by the sloughing action;
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls is concerned to preserve the primary
source of drinking water at Lake Kickapoo in a good, safe state of maintenance;
WHEREAS, the City desires to conduct a study to determine remedial
approaches for repair of the stabilization problem; and,
WHEREAS, this Council has considered a proposed contract with the
geotechnical engineering firm of Southwestern Laboratories, Dallas, Texas, for
the conduct of the study.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The engineering consulting contract with Southwestern Laboratories for
the Lake Kickapoo dam stabilization study is hereby approved, and the maximum fee
for the indicated services shall be $21 ,132.00. The City Manager is authorized to
execute the contract for the City of Wichita Falls.
