RESOLUTION NO. 51-86
RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS OF THE MUNICIPAL
ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS , TEXAS ,
ON APRIL 5, 1986 , FOR MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
MEMBERS FOR DISTRICTS 3, 4 , AND 5 .
WHEREAS , at a special meeting of the City Council of the
City of Wichita Falls, Texas, held in the Memorial Auditorium
Building on the 8th day of April, 1986 , at which time a quorum
was present, there came on to be considered the returns of the
municipal election held on the 5th day of April, 1986 ; and,
WHEREAS , after canvassing the returns of said election, it
was found to be duly and legally held in all respects, and that
9 , 186 voters voted in said election, and that votes were
cast as follows :
FOR MAYOR:
Gary D. Cook received 3 ,956 votes .
Charles Harper received 5, 066 votes .
Write-In Votes 3
FOR CITY COUNCIL, DISTRICT 3 :
Charles E . Davis received 517 votes .
Ben Watson received 250 votes .
Bob Barenberg received 880 votes .
Ruth Ann Allred received 1,052 votes .
Write-In Votes
FOR CITY COUNCIL, DISTRICT 4 :
David Brock received 448 votes .
Jim Marshall received 975 votes .
Ron Buffum received 1, 247 votes .
Write-In Votes
FOR CITY COUNCIL, DISTRICT 5 :
Thomas J . Bursey received 477 votes .
Don Kirkham received 486 votes .
Write-In Votes
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS , TEXAS , THAT:
Said election was in all respects legally held in accordance
with the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter and ordinances
of the City of Wichita Falls; that Charles Harper
was duly and legally elected Mayor, Ruth Ann Allred
was duly and legally elected to serve on the City Council for
District 3, Ron Buffum was duly and legally
elected to service on the City Council for District 4 , and that
Don Kirkham was duly and legally elected
to serve on the City Council for District 5 .
PASSED AND APPROVED this the 8th day of April, 1986 .
