Ord 112-83 9/20/1983 I - ORDINANCE NO. /V-13 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 7-15, PARAGRAPH THREE (3) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, PROVIDING FOR BUILDING INSPECTION FEES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: Paragraph three (3) of Section 7-15 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Wichita Falls is hereby amended so that it shall read as follows: "(3) Subsection (A) , (B), fixing fees, are hereby deleted and the following substituted therefor: ' (A) VALUE OF BUILDINGS: The total value of the proposed structure shall include all labor, material , equipment, overheads, and the contractor's profit together with the cost of plumbing, heating, wiring and painting included in such structure. For the purpose of estimating the total value, the following schedule shall be used unless the applicant can demonstrate that the cost is less than that determined by the schedule. Commercial and industrial values shall be determined by the contracted price, or be estimated by the chief building inspector using current construction values. VALUE ESTIMATING SCHEDULE (I) Residential construction (a) All types $20.00 per sq. ft. (b) Garages 50% of sq. ft. rate for same type of residence construction. (II) Commercial buildings (a) Metal clad with wooden frame 4.65 per sq. ft. (b) Metal clad with metal frame 8.00 per sq. ft. (III) Ordinary masonry construction Business buildings 10.00 per sq. ft. each floor (IV) Fire resistive business buildings (a) Basement 5.25 per sq. ft. (b) One-story buildings 10.65 per sq . ft. (c) Second floor of two-story buildings and all floors above second story 8.00 per sq. ft. (V) Fireproof business buildings (a Basement 5.25 per sq. ft. b) One-story buildings 11 .25 per sq. ft. (c) Second floor of two-story buildings and all floors above second story 8.65 per sq. ft. (VI) Fireproof office buildings (a) Basement 5.25 per sq. ft. (b) All floors 24.65 per sq. ft. (VII) Institutional buildings (a) Clinics and hospitals , frame or ordinary construction, each floor 14.00 per sq. ft. Fireproof and fire resistive construction 5.25 per sq. ft. r 1 . Fireproof and fire resistive masonry construction 21 .25 per sq. ft. (B) PERMIT AND INSPECTION FEES (I) Permit fees for construction, alteration and repair of buildings and structures shall be as follows : Up to $2,000 value 10.00 From $2,000 value to $100,000 value, for each $1 ,000 value 2.65 All over $100,000 value, for each $1 ,000 value 1 .50 (II) Permit fee for the moving of any building or structure over ten feet (10' ) wide or over twelve feet (12' ) long shall be $50.00 for each building or fraction thereof, plus the cost of police escort and traffic engineering services provided based on current city employee salaries and benefit schedules. (III) Permit fee for the demolition of any building or structure shall be twenty-five dollars ($25.00) . (IV) Permit fee (when required) for the erection of television aerials shall be ten dollars ($10.00) each. (V) Inspection fee for the installation of wash-air, or refrigeration, air conditioners projecting over public sidewalks or on roofs of structures shall be ten dollars ($10.00) per unit. (VI) A permit fee may be refunded to payee upon recommendation of the building official . (VII) In case any work, for which a permit is required by this code, is started or proceeded with prior to obtaining said permit, the fees specified may be doubled, but the payment of such fee shall not relieve any person from fully complying with the requirements of. this code. '" The fact that these amounts will be due and that it is essential for the immediate use of the City of Wichita Falls creates an emergency, therefore this ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage.
