ORDINANCE NO. i
ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 1206 . 5, 1211.1 AND
1604 OF ORDINANCE NO. 2733 , THE WICHITA FALLS
PLUMBING CODE, CONCERNING STOP AND WASTE VALVE
COMBINATIONS, WATER SUPPLY CONTROLS, AND ROOM
HEATERS IN MOTELS, HOTELS AND AUTO COURTS AND
IN CERTAIN INSTITUTIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Section 1206 . 5 of Ordinance No. 2733 , concerning
stop and waste valve combinations , is hereby repealed.
SECTION 2 . Section 1211. 1 of Ordinance No. 2733 is hereby
amended to read as follows:
" (1211. 1) Water supply control.
An accessible stop and drain ball valve shall be installed
outside near the entrance of the water service pipe to the building.
The stop and drain shall be full port bronze 1/4 turn ball valve ,
400 WOG (non shock) 125 PSI saturated steam. Valve shall have
manual drain cock for draining when valve is in off position.
Stop and drain valve shall have bottom loaded pressure
retaining stems, virgin TFE seats. Each valve must be tested,
air under water in the opened and closed positions.
Valve must conform to Federal Specifications WWV, 35B Type
11 Class A Style III. Ball valve shall be installed in a standard
type valve box for easy access. "
SECTION 3 . Ordinance No. 2733 is hereby amended by adding a
new section 1604 . 8 , which shall read as follows ;
" (1604 .8) Room or space heaters.
Only room heaters listed for vented use shall be installed in
sleeping quarters for the use of transients, as in motels, hotels
and auto courts, in institutions such as homes for the aged,
sanitariums, convalescent homes, orphanages, day nurseries, play
schools, etc. Such heaters shall be connected to an approved vent
and be equipped with an automatic pil/ot. "
