RESOLUTION WAIVING RESOLUTION NO. 2764, TO
REDUCE THE RATE CHARGED FOOD AND SOFT DRINK
VENDORS AT JAYCEE PARK DURING THE RED RIVER
CHILI CHAMPIONSHIP ON SEPTEMBER 18, 19 AND
20 , 1987.
WHEREAS, the Jaycees are sponsoring the 1987 Red River
Chili Championship in Jaycee Park on September 18, 19 and
20, 1987, and the City Council has waived Section 22-1(a) ( 8)
to allow sale of concessions in the park during this period;
and,
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2764 requires that vendors of
food and soft drinks in parks in which there is no
concessionaire, shall pay to the City 16% of their gross
sales; and,
WHEREAS, the Jaycees have reported that the size of
this charge has discouraged certain vendors from
participating, and will discourage other vendors from
participating, and the Jaycees feel that the participation
of such vendors is very much needed for a safe and
successful cook-off. Consequently, the Jaycees have
requested that this charge be reduced; and,
WHEREAS, it appears that the circumstances involved in
this request are exceptional, and that such resolution
should be waived to allow a reduction of the charge.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
Resolution No. 2764 is hereby waived, and the
percentage of gross sales to be charged food and soft drink
vendors participating in the Red River Chili Championship at
Jaycee Park on September 18, 19 and 20, 1987, is hereby
reduced from 16% to /O % of gross sales.
