RESOLUTION TO CONFIRM EMERGENCY ACTION TO REMOVE
WASTEWATER SLUDGE
WHEREAS, the River Road Wastewater Treatment Plant has accumulated
a significant quantity of solids in the plant in the form of digested
sludge;
WHEREAS, the sludge must be removed on an' immediate basis to ensure
continued compliance with the state and federal discharge permits; and,
WHEREAS, the staff has made arrangements under the emergency pro-
visions of state law for a portable belt filter press to remove approx-
imately two million gallons of the accumulated sludge.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The City Council fully supports the need to protect our environment
from pollution and does hereby confirm the emergency action taken by staff
to assure continued compliance with the federal and state permits for
operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
