RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
PURCHASE THE REMAINING OPERATING SYSTEM
SOFTWARE CURRENTLY RENTED WHICH IS REQUIRED
TO OPERATE OUR CENTRAL COMPUTER SYSTEM.
WHEREAS, the IBM Corporation currently provides the
operating system software for the City's central computer system
and charges a monthly rental; and
WHEREAS, IBM has introduced a new program to allow the City
to purchase this software outright; and
WHEREAS, such a purchase will result in reduced expenditures
in future years and contribute to the efficiency and economy of
the City's Data Processing Division.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The City Manager is authorized to approve the purchase of
the remaining central computer system Operating System Software,
up to the amount of $41,700.00.
PASSED AND APPROVED THIS THE 18TH DAY OF OCTOBER, 1988.
