RESOLUTION URGING SUPPORT FOR CONTINUED CONSTRUC-
TION OF THE RED RIVER CHLORIDE CONTROL PROJECT
WHEREAS, Section 1107 of Public Law 99 -662 provided for
funding for the Red River Chloride Control Project subject to
positive findings of a panel consisting of representatives of the
United States Geological Survey and the Texas Water Commission, a
person selected by the National Academy of Sciences, and two
other qualified persons to be appointed by the Secretary of the
Army with the concurrence of the Governors of Texas and Oklahoma;
and,
WHEREAS, the report from the above committee has been
submitted on August 8, 1988 to the Secretary of the Army, the
committee on the Environment and Public Works of the Senate, and
the committee on Public Works and Transportation of the House of
Representatives; and,
WHEREAS, the above committee found that the removal of
chlorides from the south fork of the Wichita River exceeded the
Corps of Engineers projection.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The Secretary of the Army is urged to proceed with the
construction of the remainder of the Red River Chloride Control
Project as set forth in Section 1107 of Public Law 99 -662.
