RESOLUTION CREATING A LIBRARY
PLANNING COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, the City Council has requested creation of a
Library Planning Committee to study and prepare a plan for the
development of the library.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
There is hereby established a Library Planning Committee,
which shall consist of fifteen voting members and three ex-
officio members. The voting membership of the committee will be
composed of six Library Advisory Board members, four members of
the Friends of the Library, two City Councilors, and three
volunteers from the general public. The three non - voting members
shall be composed of City staff.
Committee members shall be appointed by the City Council,
and shall be residents of Wichita Falls. The City Council shall
appoint one of the members representing the Library Advisory
Board as chairman, and the committee will meet at the call of the
chairman.
The committee shall study the following issues, and make
findings and recommendations to the City Council concerning such
issues, to wit:
1. The need for a new building to house the library
and possible locations for such a facility.
2. For what purpose, or purposes, the present building
will be utilized.
3. The method to finance the proposed improvements to
the library.
The committee shall hold its meetings, seek citizen input
through public hearings or otherwise, and make its findings and
recommendations to the City Council in a written report.
