RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING GRANT APPLICATION TO
GOVERNOR'S OFFICE, CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION
FOR POLICE COMMUNIW SERVICES OFFICER PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Police Department performs a "Close Property Patrol Check"
program which involves periodic patrol checks of property upon request while owners are
out of town for extended periods, and that the manpower requirements to provide this
this service has been provided by use of part -time civilians under the Police Community
Services Officer Program funded by the Governor's Office, Criminal Justice Division; and,
WHEREAS, the use of part -time civilians to make residential property checks has
increased the number of police officers available to respond to reported offenses and has
increased the member of residential property checks; and,
WHEREAS, funds are available through the Governor's Office, Criminal justice
Division to fund this program for a second year on a 80 percent matching ratio; and
WHEREAS, the estimated cost for this project for the second year would be
$31,853 of which $25.482 (800) will be funded by the state grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE iT' RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF WICHITA
FALI:S. THAT.
The City :Manager is hereby authorized to make an application to the Texas
Criminal Justice Division for a grant in the amount of $31,853.00 for this project, and to
execute the granc agreement for the City of Wichita Falls, Texas.
