RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING GRANT APPLICATION TO
GOVERNOR'S OFFICE, CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION FOR
NORTH TEXAS NARCOTICS INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.
WHEREAS, the Police Department is actively involved in the enforcement of the
Dangerous Drug and Controlled Substance laws of the State of Texas through its
Narcotics,/Criminal Intelligence Units; and
WHEREAS, the North Texas Area has become a buneu for drug dealers and

. resulting iu an increase in the amnnoL of illicit drugs available in the
region and a corresponding increase in the number of persons involved in drug abuse: and
WHEREAS.there -isauecessityfmamnrdivated system ofcriminal intelligence
and aconcerted effort to stem the flow of illicit drugs into the North Texas area through
o Narcntioe information Management 5yatem, and the creation of such an information
system is With funding uvoilable through the Governor's 0ffioe, Criminal Justice Divioiou,
requiring no matching funds from the City of Wichita Fa]ls, and providing the computer
hardware and equipment necessary to facilitate the formation and operation of such an
information system; and

of which $26,770 will be funded by the state grant.
NOW. I8EREFO8E, B£ IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
KICB[I4 FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The City Manager is hereby authorized to make an application to the Texas
Criminal Justice Division for a grant in the amount of $86.767 for this projeot, and to
execute the grant agreement for the C-ity of Wichita Falls, Texas.
