Res 096-89 6/20/1989RESOLUTION NO. 96-89 A RESOLUTION CALLING PUBLIC HEARINGS ON ANNEXATION PROCEEDINGS WHEREAS, the city of Wichita Falls has been presented a petition for annexation of 1580 acres, more or less, along Rathgeber/Old Windthorst roads in order to provide this area with city water services; and WHEREAS, the city of Wichita Falls has identified a second area of 840 acres, more or less, along Anchor, Turtle Creek, Barnett and Whispering Creek roads which is now served by city water; and WHEREAS, the city of Wichita Falls has recently constructed a 24" water line parallel to Barnett Road, and thereby increased the development potential of this area; and WHEREAS, the city of Wichita Falls feels it may be in its best interest to annex areas which are served by city water. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. Two public hearings shall be held before the Wichita Falls City Council at which time all interested persons shall be given the opportunity to be heard concerning the intention of the city council to institute proceedings to annex the following described tracts of land: 1 . A tract of land being 1580 acres more or less, out of Cherokee County School Lands A-33 , Blocks 10, 11, 12 , 13, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 44; Irrigation Subdivision Blocks 3 and 4, out of Block 9, Cherokee County School Lands A-33 ; J. R. Dowell Survey A-194 and L. Lapoelum Survey A-173 , Wichita County, Texas. 2. A tract of land being 840 acre more or less, out of Robert Evans Survey A-74, John Nicholson Survey A-375 , B.M. Giles Survey A-89 , William Mayer Survey A-193 and Stehlik and Baber Subdivision of Blocks 4 and 5 , Denton County School Lands League 1, A-58, Wichita County, Texas. SECTION 2. The city clerk is directed to give public notice of such hearings by publishing not more than twenty ( 20) days nor less than ten 10) days prior to the meeting, notices thereof one ( 1 ) time for each hearing in a newspaper having general circulation in the city and in the territories to be annexed. The Planning Department is hereby directed to prepare a service plan that provides for the extension of municipal services to the areas to be annexed. SECTION 3 .
