Res 063-89 5/2/1989RESOLUTION NO. RESOLUTION SUPPORTING CONTINUED FUNDING FOR THE RED RIVER BASIN CHLORIDE CONTROL PROJECT WHEREAS, water is the basic resource by which we sustain our lives and economic base for citizens of our community; and, WHEREAS, the reclamation of the Red River and its tributaries present a viable solution to meet the future water needs and economic growth; and, WHEREAS, Public Laws 89 -789, 91 -611, and 99 -662 have authorized construction of the Red River Basin Chloride Control Project with 100% federal funds; and, WHEREAS, the Red River Authority acting as designated cooperating local sponsor has brought to our attention the urgent need to express our desire concerning the Chloride Project's continuation as Congress has agreed. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: The City of Wichita Falls City Council hereby pledges continued support of the Red River Basin Chloride Control Project, which will successfully reclaim the waters of the Red River and its tributaries as a useful natural resource for all beneficial purposes for the people of the States of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana, and request federal funding be appropriated by Congress in accordance with PL 89 -789, PL 91 -611, and as amended by PL 99 -662.
